JC Subject Combination
When do I choose my A-Level subject combination? Jan & Feb of JC1
How should I choose my combination?
Explore your university course and career inclinations.
You may use the PAO framework:
Passion
Can you be suitably motivated to sustain your study for the next two years? Read some notes or textbooks, have a sense of the content, and see if they rock your boat (or, at least, not sink it).
Aptitude
A level subjects are very different from the same ones in IP Year 4 or O level. A level subjects form the bridge to higher education courses: they are more rigorous and require much more self-study. Talk to teachers and seniors, and definitely plan to attend the subject talks.
Options
Refer to useful websites, especially if you have a university or career destination in mind. They will specify subject requirements for admittance (e.g. Want to study Medicine in the UK? Several universities require H2 Biology).
You may explore relevant pages in the ECG website eg. Courses & Careers.
Check (eg. by searching online) if these have any specific pre-requisites or if any A-Level subjects would be relevant.
Local university pre-requisites
Many UK courses have A-Level subject requirements.
Most US courses do not have A-Level subject requirements.
Attend sample lectures and selection tests for subjects you're considering.
Based on the above, choose from available subject combinations in HCI.
For details on Subject Information & Prerequisites, and Special Programmes at Hwa Chong Institution, please refer to the Academic Programmes page on HCI Website. Please note that the list of subject combinations is subjected to change. The list is NOT indicative of subject combinations that would be offered.
