IMPORTANT POLICIES

For All

1. Students can only request for references if the university they apply to requests for it. All references and predicted grades are confidential and must not be disclosed to students.

2. HCI does not register students for additional tests on their behalf. We provide general information but if the course or school you are applying to requires you to take additional tests, you have to check the specific dates, deadlines, and how to register from the official websites.

For Reapplying

3. HCI will support a student through the application process twice (support refers to sending of reference letters, e-transcripts and other necessary documents for application and matriculation purposes). 

• This includes students with National Service (NS) obligations, taking a gap year, or transferring to another university. 

For Deferred Entry

4. Those who wish to defer their studies should check prior to application how many years of deferment the university allows, if any. Students should only defer if they are confident they will enrol in the institution. (HCI will not support further applications if a student is accepted and given a deferral that stipulates that a student must matriculate.)

For All Overseas Universities

5. Students must read the ECG Honour Statement before applying to any overseas university.

6. To request for teacher references, first verbally ask your teachers if they are willing to support your application by writing you a reference letter. If they agree, fill up the Teachers' Reference Request Form (updated for 2023) and submit it to them via email.

7. If a student accepts an offer and wishes to apply to another institution, the student must withdraw the acceptance before the new application is supported.

For US Colleges

9. HCI limits every student to a maximum of 8 US colleges per application cycle. 

• • • The University of California campuses are counted as 1 college. 

    • If you apply to more than 8 US colleges, we will support you for the first 8 colleges that is reflected on CIALFO, which is in alphabetical order. 

For Studying Medicine Locally

10. To request for teacher references, first verbally ask your teachers if they are willing to support your application by writing you a reference letter. If they agree, fill up the Teachers' Reference Request Form (to be updated for 2023) and submit it to them via email.
