Using CIALFO

Requesting Teacher Reference Letter

Students can request reference letters for their university application via email using the Teacher Reference Request Form.

PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA UNIVERSITIES

1. You cannot hold PRC citizenship. For former PRC citizens, a non-PRC citizenship should have been acquired for 4 years or longer.

2. Should either of your parents hold PRC citizenship at your time of birth, kindly refer to para 三- 2 - (1) on this website to have a clear understanding of the requirements regarding the renunciation of PRC citizenship prior to applying to any PRC university. (International Students Division, Office of International Relations, Peking University)

3. There is currently no formally recognized central agency managing the applications for full-time undergraduate degree courses at universities in PRC.

4. There is currently no pre-admission (保送) agreement between HCI and any PRC University. However, HCI strongly supports interested graduates to pursue their undergraduate education in PRC.

5. Popular and longstanding choices include:

a.    Peking University 北京大学

b.    Fudan University 复旦大学

c.    Tsinghua University 清华大学 . Kindly approach Mr. Yeong Chan Kong (yeongck@hci.edu.sg) should you be genuinely interested, as pre-application recommendations by the school has to be submitted to Tsinghua University before 13 Nov 2026. 

6. You may also want to consider these reputable universities who have stepped up their publicity efforts in Singapore in recent years:

a.      Shanghai Jiaotong University 上海交通大学

b.      University of Science and Technology, China 中国科学技术大学

c.      SUSTech 南方科技大学

7. Interested applicants shall apply directly to the university. There is no upper limit to the number of PRC universities that one applicant can apply to.

8. Applicants should have good A level results that are no lesser than ABB (持A水准考试成绩申请：所修课程须与申请专业相关，至少3门H2科目成绩且不低于ABB；A水准H1华文达到A及以上, ref. to Peking University 2026 Overseas Undergraduate admission requirements)

9. Application requirements and procedures vary between universities, as well as the courses applied to.  Varying requirements could show in terms of:

a.      Admission tests administered by the faculty

b.      CSCA Exam requirements. The CSCA (China Scholastic Competency Assessment 来华留学本科入学学业水平测试) is a mandatory standardized test for international students applying to undergraduate programs and scholarships at most PRC universities.

c.      Interviews (via online meeting platforms or FTF)

d.      Personal statements

10. As such, please check the respective university admission websites for full information.

11. The academic year for PRC universities starts in late August or early September. Admission applications usually open in early January of the academic year, e.g.1 Jan to 28 Feb 2026 for Peking University. For some universities such as Fudan University, there can be two windows of application.

12. Most universities charge around 800 yuan for online applications.

13. For further research, you can search online for “XX大学本科留学生招生简章2027” for the most accurate and up to date information.
